Last week, the selection team took themselves away on a programming retreat to watch all of this year’s film entries. This is no mean feat and some days required up to 12 hours viewing! 476 work from more than 70 places were submitted, spanning all genres and themes from classical drama to experimental documentaries, with some great animation in between.
The panel selected 68 works which will be shown in November at Cornerhouse in the cinema and Gallery 3 and in the ground floor gallery at Urbis. Expect programmes centered around themes including India, journeys, young people’s lives, urban life, families, animals and our special theme ‘change’, each with a cross section of animation, live-action, experimental and documentary.
We’ve started contacting students this week so please keep an eye on your inbox. The full programme and awards shortlist will be posted up here in September.
This week our young people’s panel are hard at work watching all the underexposed entries, we’ve restricted their viewing hours to save their eyes however!
